FEELING LONELY

How many of us have felt like we were the only person in the room, inside a room full of people?  Or felt like we were alone even though there were a lot of people around us?  I think more people struggle with loneliness than would like to admit it.

The Word of God tells us that we are truly never alone.  Isaiah 41:10 tells us that God is always with us.  Here is how Isaiah puts it in the New American Standard Bible “‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’”  He will always give us strength when we need it, and God will always hold us up when we have lost our drive and our strength.

In the latter part of Hebrews 13:5 in the Modern English Version (MEV) of the Bible Paul quotes a verse of scripture from Deuteronomy 31:8 as a promise to us.  This verse of scripture was also quoted in Joshua 1:5 and it is a promise given to all of God’s children.  The passage is as follows: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”  God promises to always be with us even when we don’t think He is there.  He is always with us and watching over us.  He never leaves us.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel lonely at times and struggle to remember these passages and the promises that He is always with His children.  For those who accepted Jesus as our Savior, He is always with us in the form of the Holy Spirit.

John 14: 15 – 16 (MEV) Jesus told His disciples that He would send the counselor to be with us.  His own words said that the counselor would never leave us and be with us forever.  “I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Counselor, that He may be with you forever:  the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, for it does not see Him, neither does it know Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you, and will be in you.”  We always have a companion with us – God in the form of the Holy Spirit. We always have God with us, living inside of us.  We are never alone.

The truth is with all these promises from God how can we say we are alone?  God is truly with us and is always for us.  In the New Living Translation of Matthew 28 at the end of verse 20 Jesus tells us “And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”   That is a great promise for us.

Jesus even demonstrated to us how God was with Him.  John 16:32 (NASB) records Jesus saying “yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.”  Jesus was the example of God’s love for us.  God loved Jesus because Jesus is the Son of God.  As Christians, we are children of God, and he gave us the promise of the Holy Spirit once we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior.  As soon as we were saved, He sealed us with the promise and the gift of salvation and the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit lives in us and never leaves us.

This brings us back to Deuteronomy 31: 8 “The Lord, He goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Do not fear, nor be dismayed.”  We will always have the Lord with us, and we are never alone.  If you ever feel alone, and this is for me as well, it is a lie from satan (I purposely write his name in lowercase because satan is a nothing burger).  God is the All-Powerful All Sovereign God.  And He loves you so much that He wants to be with you and stay with you.  He lives in you thru the Holy Spirit and will not leave you alone…even at your loneliest.  Please remember that.

If any of this has touched your heart and you want to have a relationship with Our Father and Our Lord Jesus Christ, and you want to spend eternity in Heaven and Accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, or you feel you have backslidden and want to repent then please pray this prayer:

DEAR LORD, I KNOW I AM A SINNER.  I KNOW I HAVE HOPE IN JESUS.  I WANT TO REPENT OF MY SINS AND COME TO YOU TO ASK FORGIVENESS.  I WANT TO ASK YOU TO FORGIVE MY SINS, CLEANSE ME OF MY SINS, GIVE ME THE HOPE OF ETERNAL LIFE WITH JESUS, AND I WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS IS MY LORD AND SAVIOR AND HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR ME.  I ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO COME INTO ME AS THE GUARANTEE OF MY SALVATION AND WANT TO REPENT OF MY SINS.  ALL THIS I ASK IN JESUS HOLY AND PRECIOUS NAME, AMEN

If you prayed that prayer then I want to say CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF BELIEVERS.  The Angels, The Saints, The Lord Jesus, and all who have gone before us are having a party in Heaven because you chose Jesus.  And I want to welcome you to the family.  Find a good Bible-based church and continue to learn about Jesus.  We are all on this Journey together.  And in the end we will hear God say “Well Done my good and faithful servant!”
